Trafic running rich injector issue

Good afternoon, I have a 2005 Renault Trafic with a gasoline engine. It seems to be running too rich. I've noticed a reduction in engine power, the check engine light is on, and the engine runs rough. Fuel consumption is also higher than usual, and it sometimes jerks when accelerating. Could a defective injection valve/injector be the cause?

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70, although it was a diesel. Check engine light, rough running, the whole shebang. Have you checked your air filter and spark plugs recently? A clogged air filter or worn plugs can definitely mess with the mixture and cause those symptoms. It might also be the catalytic converter.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check the air filter and spark plugs. Could you please tell me if you experienced the same jerking when accelerating as well?

Yep, the jerking was definitely there, especially when trying to accelerate quickly. It felt like the engine was struggling to get enough air or fuel. In the end, I took it to a workshop, and they found that one of the injectors was faulty and replaced it.

Thanks a lot! I appreciate your help. I will take it to the workshop. The diagnosis was indeed an injector issue. Repair cost 515€.
