Trafic Spongy Brakes Undervoltage
Summary of the thread
The initial issue was spongy and unresponsive brakes on a 2012 Renault Trafic, with brake fluid levels confirmed as adequate. A possible cause considered was worn brake rotors. However, another person suggested that an undervoltage issue affecting the ABS could be the culprit, as it can interfere with sensor feedback and reduce braking power. The problem was confirmed to be an undervoltage issue, which was resolved by addressing the electrical system and replacing worn brake pads.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Undervoltage, eh? How did you figure that out? I thought it was just worn brake pads or old brakes. What do you mean by 'havoc'? Was it dangerous to drive?

Yeah, it was throwing up ABS errors intermittently. Basically, the fluctuating voltage messed with the ABS sensors and that translated into weird feedback and reduced braking power. Not ideal, especially in an emergency. Workshop diagnosed it pretty quick. Get yours checked out!

Cheers for the advice! Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on! Turns out there was an undervoltage problem. They sorted the electrics and replaced some worn brake pads. Cost me about 240€, but at least it's sorted now. Thanks again!

I drive a Trafic too. I had something similar happen. Felt like the whole brake system was fighting me! Did you check for any squeaky brakes? For me it ended up being an undervoltage issue affecting the ABS. Plays havoc with the pedal feel.
