Trailblazer diesel cold start issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer diesel with 238,320 kilometers is experiencing poor engine performance during cold starts, a stored error, and increased fuel consumption. Diagnostics suggest the issue may be related to the electric auxiliary (PTC) heater. The error code points to the PTC heater circuit, indicating a potential fault. The recommended solution is to take the vehicle to a workshop for inspection and likely replacement of the defective heater.

The error code does point to the PTC heater circuit. Given your experience with the Renault Megane, could you elaborate on the specific error code you encountered, and the troubleshooting steps you undertook prior to resolving the issue?

I don't recall the exact error code, sorry! I fiddled a bit with the wiring, checked the fuses (a blown fuse can cause heating element malfunction), but honestly, tracing electrical faults isn't my strong suit. I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They confirmed the heater element was kaput.

Based on your recommendation and the diagnostic information I have gathered, I will proceed with taking the vehicle to a reputable workshop for further inspection and repair. It seems likely that the electric auxiliary heater is indeed defective and requires replacement. I anticipate the repair cost to be in the region of 350€.

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my old Renault Megane, although it was a petrol. Cold starts were rough, and the MPG tanked. It turned out to be a faulty auxiliary heater. The 'error memory' you mention - did it give a specific code pointing to the heating system or temperature control?
