Trailblazer remote key and starting issue
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Chevrolet Trailblazer owner experienced issues with the remote key fob not working and the engine not starting without the key in the ignition. The suspected cause was a problem with the bumper antenna, possibly involving a cable or plug. It was suggested that the antenna might be linked to the immobilizer system, affecting the car's ability to start. The issue was resolved by repairing the antenna cable, restoring full functionality to the vehicle.

Yeah, the remote key fob is completely dead. I have to use the physical key. As for radio signal, I hadn't really noticed any FM antenna issues, but I mostly use Bluetooth. Is the radio antenna related to the immobilizer?

Okay, the key fob being totally dead is a big clue. And yes, modern cars often use the antenna for more than just the radio. It's very possible the immobilizer that stops the car from starting without the correct key signal is linked to that antenna. Given the cost you are facing, I suggest getting it checked by a workshop.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to the shop, and you were right it was the antenna cable. They fixed it for 95€, just like predicted. Everything's working perfectly again.

Whoa, that sounds like a headache! So, just to be clear, when you say unlocking/locking isn't working, does that mean the remote key fob isn't working at all? Or is it intermittent? And are you getting any weird radio signal interference, like static or weak FM antenna reception? Because if the antenna mount is dodgy, that could explain the no-start issue, because modern cars rely on the antenna for all kinds of stuff.
