Trajet Injection System Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Hyundai Trajet is experiencing high fuel consumption, reduced power, stalling at idle, and smoke emission during acceleration. The suspected cause is a defective cable or plug in the injection system. Possible causes include issues with connectors near the fuel injectors, mass airflow sensor, or lambda sensor. A suggested solution is to have a professional workshop perform an in-depth diagnostic analysis to identify and resolve the issue.

Thanks for the reply. I visually inspected the connectors near the fuel injectors and mass airflow sensor, and checked the lambda sensor, but the values seemed good. Could you elaborate on the cable/plug issue you encountered?

It was minor corrosion and a slightly loosened connection on one of the injector plugs. It wasn't obvious until I wiggled each connector while the engine was running and the misfiring became pronounced. I'd recommend a workshop with diagnostic tools for an in-depth analysis. It might save time and expense. I paid 95€ for the cable replacement and checkup.

Thanks for the insights and the suggestion to seek professional help. I'll take my Trajet to a workshop for evaluation. Hopefully, they'll find the problem.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Trajet petrol engine. High fuel consumption was first, then sluggish performance and stalling. Did you check connectors near the fuel injectors and mass airflow sensor? What about the lambda sensor? It may not be a bad cable or plug connection, but an old sensor sending wrong signals.
