Trajet Jerking Acceleration
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Hyundai Trajet with a gasoline engine is experiencing rough running and jerking during acceleration, accompanied by an illuminated check engine light. The issue is suspected to be a misfire but could also be due to an exhaust leak, particularly around the manifold and catalytic converter, which can cause uneven engine performance. A visit to a workshop confirmed an exhaust leak, which was repaired, resolving the problem and restoring smooth operation.

Thanks for the quick reply! An exhaust leak, huh? I wouldn't have thought of that right away. Was your check engine light also on? And did it also jerk when accelerating like mine?

Yes, the check engine light illuminated, and the symptoms align. I suggest a workshop visit. They’ll inspect the system and can verify the leak efficiently, preventing further complications. It's the same principle as not patching a tire yourself if you don't have the tools.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to the shop as you suggested. Turns out there was indeed a leak in the exhaust system. They repaired it for 265€. Runs like new now. Thanks!

I own a Hyundai Trajet too. I had something similar happen a while ago. Check for exhaust leaks, specifically around the manifold and catalytic converter. It could be drawing in extra air, which causes the engine to run unevenly. It's like trying to play a guitar with a broken string – the sound just isn't right!
