Trajet oxygen sensor heater failure
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Hyundai Trajet is experiencing an oxygen sensor heater failure, indicated by a check engine light and increased fuel consumption. The issue may stem from a defective cable or plug connection, particularly around the pre-cat sensor, which can affect the air-fuel ratio. Inspecting the sensor wiring for damage or corrosion is recommended, but a visit to a workshop might be necessary for a definitive solution.

Good point. I haven't checked the specific sensor yet, just the generic OBD code. Is it possible that a faulty pre-cat sensor would cause such high fuel consumption? Where was the faulty wiring in your car?

Yeah, definitely possible. A faulty pre-cat sensor can mess with the air-fuel ratio, which would explain the increased fuel consumption. Regarding my car, I don't remember the exact location of the damage, but it was close to the sensor. Honestly, I would suggest visiting a workshop. The repair cost me around 95€. It's worth it.

Understood. I'll inspect the pre-cat sensor wiring more closely, but it sounds like a trip to the workshop is inevitable. Thanks for the input; very helpful!

I had something similar with my Trajet. The symptoms sound familiar – check engine light and all. Did you check the sensor wiring for any obvious damage or corrosion? That's where I'd start. Which sensor is throwing the code?
