Transit boost pressure issue

My 2012 Ford Transit, diesel engine, is giving me fits! I've got a bad boost pressure situation. The check engine light is on, engine power is way down, and the response is terrible. It even stalls sometimes when idling. Fuel consumption is up, and there's a whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing when I accelerate. I suspect a wastegate defect, but I'm open to suggestions. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar! I've got a Transit too, and your symptoms are spot on with what I experienced a while back. Have you checked the pressure sensor or MAP sensor? Could also be a leak in the intercooler or a problem with the boost control solenoid. When was the last time you gave those a look?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked those specifically. Which one gave you the trouble when you had these symptoms? Was it easy to diagnose, or did it take some digging?

For me, it turned out to be a faulty wastegate valve. Initially, I suspected the same things I mentioned before, but after some testing, the wastegate was the culprit. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional. It's a bit tricky to diagnose without the right tools and knowledge, and you could end up chasing your tail. The repair set me back about 860€, but it solved the issue completely.

Appreciate the insight! That confirms my suspicion about the wastegate. I'll book it in at the workshop ASAP. Cheers for the help!
