Transit O2 sensor corroded plug

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2000 Ford Transit diesel. The check engine light is on, and I've got an error code stored. Plus, I think my fuel consumption has gone up. I've been reading online, and it sounds like it could be the O2 sensor. I had a look, and the cable and plug look a bit dodgy. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2000 Ford Transit diesel exhibited a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, with an error code suggesting an O2 sensor issue. Inspection revealed a corroded plug, likely affecting the sensor's signal. The recommended solution was to have the sensor and plug checked and potentially replaced at a workshop. After replacement, the vehicle's performance returned to normal.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my Transit. Check the O2 sensor wiring carefully. Is it visibly damaged or corroded?

Yeah, the plug looks pretty corroded. Is that likely the culprit? What did you end up doing?

Corrosion on the plug is a common problem. It's probably affecting the sensor's signal. I'd suggest getting it checked out at a workshop; they can properly diagnose it and replace the sensor if needed.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a local garage, and you were spot on. It was the O2 sensor, and the corroded plug was the cause. New sensor and plug, cost me 95€ and everything's running smoothly again!
