Transport mode error and warning light in Citroen C6 petrol engine (2006)
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Citroen C6 with a gasoline engine is experiencing failed functions, stored faults, and a warning light, suspected to be due to an active transport mode. A similar issue in a Citroen C5 was resolved by addressing electronic problems, repairing electrical connections, and updating the on-board computer software to disable transport mode. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle checked by a mechanic to diagnose and fix the issue, which previously resulted in a successful outcome for another user.

Hello, thank you for your answer! That's exactly the kind of advice I needed. Do I understand correctly that the problems with the electronics were completely resolved after the repair and update? And can you still remember what you had to pay for it? I'm doing a bit of math on the cost right now. And have you had similar problems since then, or has anything else developed that I should keep an eye on? Many thanks and best regards!

Hello, always happy to help! Yes, you got that right. After the mechanic had a look at it and carried out a repair, all the faults were rectified and everything has been working perfectly ever since. The transport mode in the vehicle was deactivated by the software update, which mainly solved my problem. In terms of cost, it was actually surprisingly cheap for such a big deal - it only cost me €45 to get the car running again with a jump start. Nothing similar has actually happened since the repair. Sure, other little things have come up afterwards, as is the case with older cars, but nothing to do with this electronics problem. Hope that helps you. So, take courage and off to the mechanic! Best regards!

Hi, great, that sounds really good! And it's reassuring that the costs seem manageable after all. I'll probably take my car to the mechanic next week. It doesn't help, and it has to run smoothly after all. In any case, your experience gives me a good feeling for what to expect. Thanks again for your detailed reply. Apart from that, all that remains is to keep my fingers crossed that things continue without any further major incidents. As you say, minor issues are simply part and parcel of older models, as long as the major problems are under control. So, thanks again and I'll let you know as soon as I know anything new. See you then and best regards!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2009 Citroën C5. The car had to be jump-started several times. The mechanic was able to determine that there was a problem with the electronics. There was something wrong with the vehicle control unit. This was a pretty serious problem and had to be fixed. The repair itself consisted mainly of troubleshooting and repairing the damaged electrical connections. An update also had to be made to the on-board computer software to disable the so-called transport mode. It was a lot of work, but in the end it was worth it. Since then, my car has been running perfectly again. So it's definitely important that you have it checked at a garage. Good luck!
