Traveller Battery Sensor Issue

I'm experiencing battery issues with my 2023 Peugeot Traveller diesel, done about 290050 km. I'm getting an error message and the lights seem weak or flicker. The engine struggles to start. I checked the error memory with an OBD2 scanner and there's an error stored. I've checked the battery terminals and they seem clean and tight. Could a faulty battery sensor cause these symptoms?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Peugeot Traveller diesel with 290,050 km is experiencing battery issues, including error messages, weak or flickering lights, and engine starting difficulties. The problem may be linked to a faulty battery sensor, as suggested by a similar case where replacing the sensor resolved the issue. Checking the voltage across the battery while the engine is running could help diagnose a charging problem, but professional inspection confirmed the sensor fault, leading to successful repair.

I had something similar happen with my Traveller. Same symptoms – error message, weak lights, sluggish starts. Did you check the voltage across the battery when the engine is running? It should be around 14V. If it's lower, that points to a charging problem, maybe a bad alternator or regulator. But maybe start with that sensor you mentioned.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't checked the voltage while the engine's running yet, but will do that tomorrow. Where exactly is the battery sensor located on the Traveller? And did the voltage fluctuate a lot when you had the issue? That could help me narrow it down.

Honestly, I didn't bother locating the sensor myself. Diagnostics are a pain. I just took it to a shop. They told me it was a defective battery sensor causing the charging issue. They swapped it out and all was good. Probably worth getting it checked professionally, especially with all those symptoms.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was a faulty battery sensor. The total repair cost was 315€. Everything's working fine now, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
