Traveller crankcase ventilation issue

Thanks! By 'defective,' do you mean completely blocked, or just leaking? I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can temporarily fix myself, or if I need to go straight to the shop.

Could be either, honestly. Blocked can cause pressure build-up, leaking messes with the air/fuel mixture. Either way, it's messing with your engine's efficiency and emissions. Given the smoke, it might be more than a simple fix. I'd advise getting it checked by a professional; these diesel engines are sensitive.

Appreciate the advice. Dropped it at the shop; they confirmed it's the crankcase ventilation valve. Repair cost will be around 360€. Thanks again!

Hey, I've got a Peugeot Traveller too, though not the same year. Those symptoms sound familiar. Smoke plus the check engine light usually points to a leak somewhere in the emissions system. The crankcase ventilation, also known as PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation), is part of that. If it's stuck open or defective, it can cause those issues. Worth checking for leaks or damage around the valve and hoses.
