Traveller diesel generator failure
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Peugeot Traveller diesel with 263,572 km is experiencing issues indicative of a faulty generator, such as reduced engine power, a warning light, poor starting, and flickering lights. Possible causes include a defective generator, a loose or cracked serpentine belt, or a low battery. Suggested solutions involve checking the belt and battery voltage, and if those are fine, having a professional diagnose and potentially replace the generator. Ultimately, the generator was confirmed defective and replaced at a workshop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'll check the belt and battery voltage as you suggested. If those seem okay, does it still point to the generator itself being the likely culprit? I want to be sure before I start throwing parts at it.

If the belt's fine and the battery is holding a charge, and you're still seeing those symptoms, plus the error code, yeah, it really does sound like the generator is failing. I wouldn’t mess with it too much further yourself. Honestly, at that mileage, things do wear out. Best bet is to get it checked out by a professional to confirm. They can properly diagnose the issue and replace the generator if needed.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it turned out the generator was indeed defective. The repair cost me 960€. Thanks again for your help!

Wow, that sounds frustrating! Reduced power and flickering lights are definitely worrying. Could be a few things affecting your charging system. When you try to start, does it sound like the starter motor is struggling? Maybe also take a look at your serpentine belt to make sure it's not cracked or loose, as that can affect the generator's performance. Have you checked the battery voltage? A low battery can cause all sorts of weird issues.
