Traveller rough gear shifting

It's most noticeable when accelerating, especially from lower speeds. There's a kind of grinding noise too, especially in the lower gears. It’s not all the time, but it's definitely getting worse. Does that sound familiar?

Your description aligns with the symptoms I encountered, which were subsequently diagnosed as defective gears within the transfer case. Given the potential complexity, I strongly advise against any DIY repairs. Instead, I recommend consulting with a certified Peugeot technician. They possess the expertise and specialized tools necessary to accurately diagnose and rectify the problem.

Okay, I'll take it to the shop and get it checked out by Peugeot. They quoted 330€, so not as bad as I was expecting.

I own a Traveller, although I haven't experienced your specific symptoms, transfer case issues are not unheard of. To better understand, could you elaborate on when you notice the gear slippage and rough shifting? Does it occur during specific driving conditions, such as acceleration, deceleration, or while maintaining a constant speed? Have you observed any unusual noises, such as grinding or whining, emanating from the gearbox area?
