Traverse belt tensioner noise

Ugh, my 2016 Chevrolet Traverse with a gasoline engine is making a racket! 50732 km on the clock. I think it's the belt tensioner - the belt-handover thingy just doesn't work anymore. Pretty sure that stupid defective belt bringer/handover itself is the culprit. Anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Chevrolet Traverse with 50,732 km is experiencing a loud noise, suspected to be caused by a faulty belt tensioner. The issue is characterized by a squealing noise, particularly noticeable during startup or when the engine is under load. The suggested solution is to have the belt tensioner inspected and replaced at a workshop to prevent further damage. After following this advice, the problem was resolved, confirming the belt tensioner as the culprit.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Yep, sounds familiar. I had something similar on my Traverse. Is it a squealing noise, especially on startup or when the engine's working hard?

Exactly! Squeals like a banshee, especially when it's cold. So, you're saying you had the same issue with the 'belt-handover' thingy?

Correct. Sounds like your 'belt-handover' is toast. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop; best to get it sorted before it causes more damage.

Thanks! Took your advice and brought it to the shop. You were spot on - the belt tensioner was shot. Cost me 455€ to fix, but at least the noise is gone! Appreciate the help.
