Traverse Overheating Issue

Got a head-scratcher with my 2009 Chevy Traverse, gasoline engine. 216687 km on the clock, and I'm battling a serious overheating issue. I suspect the electric fan. I reckon it's a dodgy cable or plug connection causing the fan to not kick in. Anyone else seen this?

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Chevy Traverse was experiencing a serious overheating issue, suspected to be caused by a malfunctioning electric fan. The owner believed a faulty cable or plug connection might be preventing the fan from operating. After considering advice to check the relay and connections, the problem was identified as a corroded connector, which was repaired at a shop, resolving the overheating issue.

I had something similar happen on my Traverse. Is the fan not running at all, or is it intermittent? Check the relay too, those things can be real sneaky.

Good shout on the relay! It's not running at all, stone dead. Whereabouts is the relay located? And was yours the same, completely kaput?

Yep, mine was completely dead too. Relay location should be in the under-hood fuse box, check the diagram on the lid. Honestly, though, if you're not confident with electrics, I'd just take it to a shop. Could save you a headache.

Appreciate the insights! Took your advice and got it checked at the shop. Turns out it was indeed a corroded connector, just like I suspected. 95€ later and she's back on the road! Thanks again for the pointer.
