Traverse transmission control unit issues

I'm writing to describe a problem that recently surfaced with my 2022 Chevrolet Traverse with a gasoline engine. It has 151057 km. I'm having issues that point towards a defective transmission control unit. The symptoms include shifting not being possible via the paddle shifters, the gearbox slipping or shifting in an unclean manner, occasional grinding noises during gear shifts, a slow response from the paddle shifters, and the gearbox intermittently entering emergency mode. An error code related to this issue is consistently stored. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Chevrolet Traverse with 151,057 km is experiencing issues likely related to a defective transmission control unit. Symptoms include malfunctioning paddle shifters, gearbox slipping, grinding noises during shifts, slow paddle shifter response, and the gearbox entering emergency mode, with an error code consistently stored. The diagnostic tool specifically points to the transmission control unit as the problem. The suggested solution is to replace the control unit to prevent further damage, with a workshop visit recommended for proper handling.

That sounds like a real headache! I had similar electronic issues with the automatic gearbox on my old BMW. Paddle shifters acting up, slipping gears, emergency mode... Does your diagnostic tool point specifically to the transmission control unit, or are there other related codes showing up?

Thanks for your response. Yes, the diagnostic tool is pointing specifically to the transmission control unit. All the symptoms appeared simultaneously, which leads me to believe that the control unit is the heart of the problem. Did you end up replacing the entire unit?

Yes, for me, the only solution was replacing the control unit. Given your symptoms and the diagnostic results, it's very likely that you're dealing with a faulty transmission control unit. I would suggest a workshop visit. Continuing to drive with these symptoms can cause more damage.

Understood. Thank you for confirming my suspicions and providing your insights. I appreciate your quick assistance. I will bring it to the workshop as soon as possible and ask for the unit to be replaced. The initial cost estimate amounts to approximately 1000€ including labor and parts. Again, many thanks to you!
