Trax AC failure
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Chevy Trax diesel is experiencing a complete AC failure at 194,622 km, with no cold air, a warning light on the speedometer, and an error indicating a refrigerant compressor failure. The owner suspects the AC control unit might be the issue. After checking refrigerant levels and attempting to engage the compressor clutch without success, it seems likely that the AC control unit is the problem, as confirmed by another owner who faced a similar issue. A visit to the workshop is recommended to address the suspected control unit failure.

Yeah, I checked the refrigerant levels; they seem fine. I even tried forcing the compressor clutch, but no dice. Seems like the compressor isn't getting any power. What was it in your case?

Sounds like you've covered the basics. Honestly, with those symptoms and the compressor not getting power, it's probably the AC control unit like you suspected. I ended up taking mine to a workshop, and they confirmed it. Cost me around 980€ to get it sorted.

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. Thanks for confirming my suspicions! Looks like a trip to the workshop is in my future. Hopefully, it's just the control unit and nothing else. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar problem with my Trax. Same symptoms – AC dead, warning light, the whole shebang. Did you check the basics like refrigerant levels and compressor clutch?
