Thanks for the advice. How did you find out the connection was faulty? Did you perform any diagnostic tests yourself?

I did a visual inspection of the connectors and they looked okay. But a more precise diagnostic test at the workshop confirmed it. In my case, the glow control unit was faulty because its internal resistance was too high. Considering the effort involved and the special tools required, you should probably take it to a workshop.

Thanks, I appreciate the tip. I took it to a local workshop and they confirmed the control unit was defective because of a defective cable, with a final repair cost of 95€. The car is now running smoothly.

Hey, I had similar issues with my Trax. The preheating lamp, engine light, and smoke could definitely point to the glow control unit. Have you checked the connections? Sometimes a loose or corroded connector can cause those symptoms.
