Trax rough cold start and heater error

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2014 Chevrolet Trax diesel. Lately, it's been running really rough when I first start it up in the cold, almost like it's not getting enough fuel. The engine runs poorly during the cold start phase and my fuel consumption has also gone up, plus a warning light popped up. I scanned it and it's showing an error related to the heater. Could this be related to the poor running?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Chevrolet Trax diesel is experiencing rough running during cold starts, increased fuel consumption, and a heater-related warning light. The issue may be linked to a defective PTC heater, an electric auxiliary heater in the HVAC system, which can affect engine performance during cold starts. Replacing the PTC heater is suggested as a solution, with professional assistance recommended due to the complexity of the task.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Trax. Is the heat not working properly, especially when you first start the car? It might be the PTC heater, the electric auxiliary heater. If it's defective, it throws everything off during the cold start.

The heat seems to take a while to warm up, now that you mention it. Where is that PTC heater located, and is it a pain to replace? Is there a way to test if that's the issue?

It's usually located in the HVAC system, near the blower motor. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend tackling it yourself unless you're really comfortable with electrical work and HVAC systems. The error code you're getting pretty much confirms it. I had the same symptoms and error, and the workshop confirmed it was the PTC heater. It ended up costing me around 350€ to get it sorted.

Thanks a lot! That's really helpful. I'll take it to my local mechanic and tell them to check the PTC heater and have them replace the electric auxiliary heater. Hopefully, that'll solve the problem. Thanks again for your help!
