Troubleshooting Active Central Fault Memory Lock in 2020 Seat Formentor

Hey everyone, I've got a 2020 Seat Formentor, gasoline, that's run about 22581 KM. Recently, a fault stored up and I'm thinking it may have to do with the Central Fault Memory Lock being active — anyone here experienced the same? Last time my mechanic just added to the problem, so I'm curious to hear how y'all solved this! Appreciate your input.

Hey there, Funny you mention this 'cause I had a similar gremlin pop-up in my 2017 Seat Leon not too long ago. It made me sweat buckets but, eventually, we got to the root of the matter. The Central Fault Memory Lock was active, in fact, so you're not off base there. What happened was, the car's Control module started acting all weird, kept throwing up this issue. My garage guys, after a good few days poking around, found out that the module needed to be reset — it had all these stored faults that just weren't clearing away. They had to use a diagnostic tool to scan the car's computer, identify the issues, clear the codes, and reset the thing. Important to mention, it was not just a one-time thing, had to keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks to make sure it was totally fixed. So, I'd say it's not exactly a minor thing, keep your guard up. But once your garage sorts it out, you'll be good to go! Cheers!

Hey! Gee, that sounds like a right headache you had with your Seat Leon. I'm starting to feel like I might be in for a similar treat with my Formentor. Thanks for the heads up, I'll brace myself for the possibility of it not being an easy one-time fix. Do you happen to remember roughly how much it set you back to get your Control module all sorted? And since you got it fixed, did any new problems pop up related to the Central Fault Memory Lock? Cheers!

Hey! Yeah, the Formentor might give you a bit of a pickle but don't worry too much. For my old Leon, getting the control module sorted was a bit of a pocket pinch, I ain't gonna lie. Shelled out something in the region of 625.00 € for the whole deal, so be prepared for that. That said, once I got the issue resolved, no new problems came up regarding the Central Fault Memory Lock. My mechanic did a great job in fixing it, I'll give him that! So you can expect the same, fingers crossed! Remember, every car is different, yours might even cut you some slack. Good luck with it!

Hey! Thanks for being honest. Was worrying about the dough but can't skirt around it, I guess. I'll be prepared for a light pocket, haha. It's reassuring to hear that after the fix, your Central Fault Memory Lock caused no more mayhem. Feels like there's light at the end of the tunnel. I'll definitely share how it all concludes for me and my Formentor. Good on ya!
