Troubleshooting and Fixing Blower and Defroster Flap Issues in 2010 Audi A8 Diesel
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2010 Audi A8 diesel experiencing blower issues, suspected to be linked to the defroster flap control. The problem is intermittent, with the blower sometimes failing to provide heat. A similar issue in an Audi A6 was resolved by addressing a servomotor cable connection defect. Suggested solutions include checking the servomotor, thermostat, and heater core, especially given the vehicle's high mileage. The focus is on diagnosing and fixing the issue efficiently at a workshop.

Hey! Thanks for such a quick response. Good to know you were able to get your A6 issue sorted without much hassle. As for my A8, I've gotta tell you, it's been doing a lot of miles, clocked 352,145 KM so far. My blower issue is kind of intermittent. At times it works fine and other times it just blows really cold air even when set on high heat. Not the best situation in this frigid weather! Last service was done a few months back and everything seemed fine then. Don't have much technical knowledge but, I'm guessing it could be related to the servo motor as you've mentioned. May need to get that thoroughly checked at my workshop. Sounds similar to your experience, eh? You think the mileage might have to do something with it? Cheers!

Hey there, Yeah, that intermittent issue does sound a lot like what I was dealing with my A6. And based on my own experience, the servomotor could definitely be linked to your problem, especially considering the mileage on your A8. These components do wear out over time, unfortunately. However, take into account that it could also be down to a faulty thermostat or even your heater core might be clogged - also not uncommon in high mileage vehicles. Still, from what you're saying, checking the servomotor would be a good first step. Remember, car diagnosis is part art, part science - the more information your mechanic has, the better the chances they can solve it quickly and efficiently. Good luck with it. And keep us updated, always good to share these sort of experiences. Stay safe and warm, especially in this cold weather! Cheers!

Hey! Really appreciate your insights, sounds like you've nailed it. It does make a lot of sense to start with the servomotor and thereafter look into the thermostat or the heater core, considering the high mileage on my Audi. I'm going to relay all this info to my workshop and hope for the best. With a bit of luck, this whole issue should be sorted without breaking the bank. I'll definitely keep you guys posted on the progress. Sharing is caring, after all. Thanks for the warm wishes sure could use that with all the cold here! Have a good one. Cheers!

Hey bud, Actually, I had a very similar issue with my 2008 Audi A6 a while ago! I'm not a car guru, just a regular dude with some hands-on experience, you know. Ended up finding out it was a servomotor cable connection defect. My workshop was super helpful, they diagnosed it and had it fixed up in no time. Cost me about 200 bucks, nothing too major. Sounds like our issues could be related, but you know, every car's different. Could you share a bit more about your A8's symptoms? More info might help me understand better and give you more specific advice. Cheers!
