Troubleshooting Diesel Engine Issues in 2014 Hyundai Porter: Suspected Boost Pressure Sensor Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Hyundai Porter with a diesel engine is experiencing issues such as black exhaust smoke, a check engine light, power loss, jerking, loud hissing during acceleration, excessive fuel consumption, and a whistling noise. The suspected cause is a faulty boost pressure sensor, but a clogged Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is also considered a potential issue. The suggested solutions include checking and possibly replacing the DPF or diagnosing the boost pressure sensor to resolve the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! My Porter is already at a respectable 70872 kms and I had its last service about a month ago. I didn't have this DPF issue then, but given the symptoms, it does sound plausible. The €1325.00 you spent on replacing yours is making me sweat already! But hey, if it gets my ride back in shape, it's worth it. I'll get the DPF checked out and hope it's not completely clogged up like yours. If it's not the DPF, I'll run a diagnostic to see if it really is the boost pressure sensor like I initially suspected. Will keep you posted. Cheers!

Hey back! Good to hear from you, and yep, those kilometres sure rack up! Considering the age and mileage of your Porter, a clogged DPF definitely could be the issue here. Feel you on the cost part - it absolutely isn't a cheap fix but it's important to tackle these problems head-on before they morph into something more serious. After changing the DPF on my Santa Fe, it runs smoothly and I've even noticed a slight improvement in fuel economy, which is a nice bonus. If it's not the DPF, checking the boost pressure sensor sounds like a good move. I'm crossing my fingers it's not something more serious. If your Hyundai's acting like my old Santa Fe did, you might want to steal yourself for a potentially hefty repair bill. Catch you later. Keep me posted on what happens! Cheers.

Sure thing! It's one of those times when you have to bite the bullet, isn't it? I'll get the DPF and the boost pressure sensor checked ASAP. Fingers crossed it's not some larger issue. Really appreciate the support, advice, and sharing your experience. Can't say I'm not worried about that repair bill, but at least I have a clearer idea of what I might be dealing with. Will definitely keep you in the loop. Thanks again and cheers!

Hey! I'm definitely no mechanic, but I've had some experience dealing with a similar problem on my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. Symptoms were almost identical, turned out that the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) was completely clogged. I took my whip to a local workshop I trust, they carried out a diagnostic test and confirmed the issue. The cleaning process was not enough, so they had to replace the DPF. It set me back by €1325.00, but hey, the problem was solved and my ride was back to its best. Can you make sure your issue isn't because of the same problem? If it's the DPF, a replacement might be necessary as well. If you give me more details about your car, especially the model and engine, I could probably be of more help. Good luck! Cheers.
