Troubleshooting for defective fan and outside temperature sensor in VW Golf (2017)
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2017 VW Golf is experiencing issues with a malfunctioning fan, inadequate heating, and a warning light on the speedometer. The problem may be linked to a faulty outside temperature sensor. A similar issue was resolved in a VW Passat by replacing the temperature sensor, suggesting this could be a potential solution for the Golf as well. The owner plans to visit a garage for diagnosis and repair.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! So I have a gasoline engine, the 1.5 TSI to be precise. So far I haven't had any major incidents. The last service about 62135km ago was just the usual, oil change and stuff. But it's great that you're sharing your experience with me, I think I'll go to the garage and have it checked to see if it really is the temperature sensor. Fingers crossed that it's nothing major.

Just keep us up to date, I'm really curious! Of course, I also hope that it's just the temperature sensor. With your 1.5 TSI engine, you shouldn't normally have such problems with the heater and blower. My experience with the Passat was similar and there were never any major problems. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the repair will be quick, uncomplicated and not too expensive for you. But don't worry, the guys at the garage will get it sorted! Have a safe journey and hopefully good luck in the workshop!

Hi, I'm not a professional, but I do have some experience with cars. I had a similar problem with my VW Passat from 2015. The temperature sensor was faulty, it's possible that it's the same with your car. The symptoms sound very similar. I took my Passat to a local garage in which I have a lot of confidence. The problem was diagnosed quickly and the sensor was then replaced. The repair didn't take too long and cost me 240 euros. It would be helpful to find out more about your Golf so that we can possibly give you further helpful tips. What engine do you have? Has the car had any other problems recently? As soon as I have more information, I'm sure I'll be able to help you better.
