Troubleshooting Key Fob and Locking System Issues for 2014 Dacia Sandero Gasoline Model"

Locking/Unlocking issue

Key fob issues

Hey guys, I'm having a weird issue with my 2014 Dacia Sandero, Gasoline engine model. I've noticed some odd behaviors specifically with the key fob and the locking/unlocking system. I'm thinking the issue might be related to the car's access control system but I'm not exactly sure. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how was it resolved at the workshop? I'm interested in troubleshooting tips and your experiences. Thanks in advance.

Hey there! It's funny, I had a similar issue with my 2012 Dacia Logan. My car expertise level is kinda low, more like a DIY enthusiast. At first, I was confused too, but it turned out to be a faulty door handle for the comfort access system. When I took my Logan to the workshop, they figured it out pretty quickly and got me sorted for about 390€. But to help you more accurately, I need to know; is your issue just with the remote or is it with the door handle as well? And has any other part of the vehicle been acting up? That info could be real helpful!

Hey! Appreciate the reply. So my issue is more with the remote rather than the door handle. Although now that you mentioned it, the comfort access feature hasn't been as flawless as it used to be. No other parts seem to act up yet. Just rolled over 98124 KM on the odometer, same problem persisting post its last service. Still thumbing through my manual, trying to spot something I might've skipped. Hope this extra info helps!

Hey! Thanks for the extra info! I think we may be narrowing down the problem here. Alright, so if the issue is primarily with the remote, have you tried changing the batteries in the key fob? Fobs are typically powered by a small coin-type battery that gets drained over time, especially for a car like yours that's a few years old already. I'd say give it a shot if you haven't, it's a small and inexpensive fix, probably less than €10. Remember to get the right battery type—which should be detailed in your car's manual. The issue with the comfort access could also be minor: dirty door handles sometimes mess it up. Unless there's physical damage, you can try cleaning them thoroughly, and see if that regularizes the system. Finally, keep in mind that sometimes you have to reprogram the key fob after changing its battery or if the system undergoes a glitch. This process should also be in your manual, or you can seek assistance from a local garage. If trying these simple fixes doesn't work out, you might need to go to a workshop like I did previously. But I'd say, worth giving these suggestions a shot! They saved me from a whole lot of trouble and money before, when it was simply a discharged key fob battery. Let me know how it goes!

Hey, thanks a bunch for the detailed suggestions. I had indeed overlooked the key fob battery and the reprogramming part. My bad! I'll check out the manual for the battery type and the reprogramming steps. Who knows, it might just be a low battery issue. It's funny how we often assume the worst before looking at simpler solutions. As for the comfort access, I'll give the handle a thorough cleaning. Quite frankly, I haven't paid much attention to it before. You've been a great help! I'm optimistic that these solutions will address the issue. But if they don't, I'll follow your advice to take it to the workshop. Will definitely keep you posted on how it goes. Thanks again!
