Tucson immobilizer issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid with approximately 119,904 km is experiencing intermittent starting issues, with an error code indicating a problem with the immobilizer. The issue is likely related to the anti-theft system, possibly due to a faulty key or signal interference between the key and the car. The recommended solution is to have the key reprogrammed at a workshop, which successfully resolved the problem.

Thanks for the quick response! The security light seems normal, but I haven't really paid super close attention to it. If it's the key, is there anything I can try myself, or am I looking at a trip to the shop?

Honestly, if it's the immobilizer, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. My issue ended up being the key needed to be reprogrammed. I tried a few DIY things I found online, but none of them worked for me. The immobilizer is like a gatekeeper, and if it doesn't recognize the key, it's not letting you in!

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – the key needed reprogramming. Cost me 45€, but at least it's fixed! I really appreciate the help!

Sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my Tucson. Is the security light acting funny? Like, staying on when it shouldn't, or flashing at weird times? It could be a faulty key, or something messing with the signal between the key and the car. Think of it like a handshake that isn't completing properly.
