Tucson oxygen sensor issue

I'm having trouble with my 2016 Hyundai Tucson diesel. At 91390 km, the check engine light came on, and it shows an oxygen sensor error. I've also noticed higher fuel consumption. I'm wondering if it's a bad cable or plug connection. Has anyone else had this?

Sounds like a classic O2 sensor issue. Have you checked the wiring harness for damage? Sometimes rodents chew on them. What's the exact error code? That could help narrow down if it's the sensor or something else in the exhaust.

It's possible, but less likely with those symptoms. A bad catalytic converter usually throws different codes and causes more than just fuel consumption issues. With the error and increased fuel consumption, it points to the O2 sensor. Since you don't see cable damage, I'd recommend a workshop visit. Replacing the exhaust sensor will probably fix it.
