Tundra Hybrid Stalling Idle Air Control Valve
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Toyota Tundra hybrid is experiencing stalling issues at idle, with a check engine light indicating a problem with the idle air control (IAC) valve. Initial attempts to clean the throttle body did not resolve the issue. The problem may be due to a contaminated air intake system affecting the valve's functionality. It is suggested to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed and potentially replace the IAC valve to resolve the stalling.

The throttle body wasn't sparkling, but it wasn't coated in mud either. Just a bit of carbon build-up. I definitely got the right codes, I used my OBD2 scanner, and it specifically mentioned the idle air control valve. Is it more than just a cleaning job? Do I need a new valve or something?

If you're positive about the codes and the throttle body wasn't excessively dirty, yet cleaning didn't solve the stalling, then it's probably time to consider the valve itself. If the intake is contaminated, it can destroy the functionality of the valve. Given it's a hybrid and a relatively new vehicle, I'd lean towards taking it to a trusted workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and replace the valve if needed. Otherwise, you will only continue down the rabbit hole.

Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the intake was heavily contaminated and the idle air control valve was shot. Cost me 425€ to get it sorted, but at least the stalling's gone! Appreciate the help!

Stalling at idle on a newer hybrid Tundra is odd. Cleaning the throttle body was a good first step, but if the light is on pointing to the IAC valve, and you're still stalling, there's likely more going on. How dirty was the throttle body when you cleaned it? Could be related to a gunked up air intake system. Are you sure you got the right codes? Maybe you should double-check those first.
