Tundra hybrid start stop issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Toyota Tundra hybrid is experiencing issues with its start-stop system, displaying an error message and warning light, and occasionally shutting off the engine. A potential cause could be the original car battery, which is nearly three years old and may be weak or failing. It is suggested to check the battery, as hybrid systems are sensitive to battery health, and consider visiting a workshop for a proper diagnosis and solution.

Thanks for your reply! I haven't checked the battery yet, it's the original one that came with the truck. It must be nearly three years old. If the battery is weak, can this really cause the engine to shut off?

Yes, a failing battery can absolutely cause that, especially with the start-stop system. These hybrid systems are sensitive. I ended up needing a new battery. The workshop diagnosed it as 'battery heavily discharged or defective', which cost me 290€. Honestly, though, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to be sure. Better safe than sorry, right?

Thank you so much! I'll get the battery checked out right away. I appreciate the advice and will take it to the workshop if needed. Thanks again!

Interesting. I drive a Tundra hybrid as well, and your problem sounds familiar. Did you check your battery? How old is it? The eco mode relies heavily on it, and problems will occur if the battery is weak.
