Tundra Rail Pressure Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Toyota Tundra with low mileage is experiencing issues such as the check engine light being on, stalling at idle, and reduced engine power. A mechanic suggested that a faulty rail pressure sensor signal might be the cause. After further diagnostics, it was confirmed that the rail pressure sensor was indeed the problem, and replacing it resolved the issues.

Thanks! I'm not sure about the cold or hot thing, I'll pay attention. I don't have a reader, but I'll ask the mechanic for the exact code. Would that code definitely confirm the pressure sensor, or could it be something else?

The code will help narrow it down. A bad sensor is the most likely culprit, but problems with the fuel injection system or even the engine wiring harness can sometimes throw similar codes. With those symptoms and the 'rail pressure sensor signal faulty' hint, I'd bet on the sensor, but a real diagnostic process is needed to confirm before spending money on parts.

Thank you so much! I took your advice and had a proper diagnostic done at a workshop. You were right, it was the rail pressure sensor. The repair cost me about 240€, but at least it's fixed now!

That sounds like a pain! A faulty rail pressure sensor can definitely cause those symptoms. Is it worse when the engine is cold or hot? Do you have any way to read the exact error code? That'll pinpoint the issue a lot better than just a general description.
