Tundra Transmission Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Tundra with a gasoline engine was experiencing intermittent engine and transmission warning lights, along with symptoms like slipping, hard shifting, and grinding. The issue was identified as a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor, which was confirmed by a diagnostic code. After replacing the sensor and flushing the transmission fluid, the problems were resolved.

Yeah, I checked the oil. It looked alright on the dipstick, but I'm not sure how accurate that is if the fluid is dirty or old. Could that cause these issues?

A small difference in oil level shouldn't cause those problems, but bad oil could. Grinding and emergency mode? Get it checked by a pro to avoid more damage. They can find the sensor problem and look for transmission damage.

Took it to a shop, and they said it was the transmission oil temperature sensor, just like we thought. Replaced it and flushed the transmission fluid, and it fixed everything. Cost 365€.

Sounds like the sensor, like you said. Did you check the gearbox oil level yourself? What happened? It's common on older Toyotas. Could be just the sensor, but check the easy stuff first.
