Twingo ABS Failure

My 2010 Renault Twingo diesel has developed a nasty fault. The ABS lamp is on, and the ABS system has completely failed! A scan reveals a lateral acceleration sensor fault, which points to a defective control unit. Has anyone else encountered this? The car has done 98835 km. I foresee a bill upwards of 1000€. Any thoughts before I brace myself?

I had something similar with my Twingo. ABS light, the whole nine yards. Did the diagnostics mention anything about the yaw rate or steering angle sensor? I'm just curious to know if it's the exact same issue. Was traction control also affected?

Indeed it did! The scan mentioned a potential issue with the yaw rate sensor, suggesting a possible link to the electronic stability program. The steering angle sensor seemed fine, though. And yes, the traction control is also non-functional, compounding the problem. Did you ever see a similar problem?

Yep, sounds exactly like what I went through. It's likely the control unit, like your diagnostics suggest. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it too much yourself. Bite the bullet and take it to a workshop.

A workshop it is, then. Thank you for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience; it's reassuring to know I'm not alone in this Renault-induced nightmare. Now I just need to start saving…
