Twingo bumper antenna keyless entry issue
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Twingo is experiencing issues with the keyless entry system and engine start, linked to an error related to the bumper antenna. A mechanic suspects a faulty cable or plug connection as the cause. The suggested solution is to have a professional diagnose and repair the issue, as similar problems have been resolved in a workshop setting.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, he seemed pretty sure it was something to do with the bumper antenna or its connection. He mentioned testing the wires but said he didn't have time to dig deeper. He did say that a defective cable or plug connection is very likely. Did you ever get any specific error messages? I'm trying to figure out if I should attempt a fix myself or go straight to the workshop.

Yeah, I was getting all sorts of random error lights on the dash, plus the keyless entry packed it in completely! Honestly, after messing about with it for an afternoon, I just took mine to the shop. Best bet is to get them to properly diagnose it. Mine ended up costing about 95€.

Cheers! That's what I was afraid of but you are probably right. I think I'll book it in for a proper look. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Sounds familiar! I've got a Twingo too, and I had some crazy electrical gremlins a while back. The whole central locking system went bonkers! Are you sure it's the bumper antenna? That’s a weird one. Was the mechanic sure it was the antenna itself, or just the wiring to it?
