Good shout! I'll give the wiring a look. But if it's not the wiring, and the actuator is goosed, any idea what that would cost to sort?

A defective cable or plug connection to the component is the likely cause. I would advise against attempting to fix the issue yourself. I suggest a visit to a trusted workshop. The eventual repair cost should be around 95€.

Cheers! Took it to the shop as you suggested. Turns out it was a dodgy connection, just like you said. 95€ later, and the cruise control's back in action!

Has the cruise control been faulty before, or is this a sudden failure? It may not be the actuator itself; have you checked the wiring and connections to the steering wheel controls? A faulty connection there could easily cause the symptoms you describe.
