Twingo low oil pressure

Alright, so, my 2013 Renault Twingo with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. Got 222011 km on the clock. The oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up, and I'm hearing some pretty nasty mechanical noises coming from the engine. Could it be the oil pressure sensor acting up, or maybe just a clogged oil filter? Or, heavens forbid, is it oil pump failure? Anyone else had low oil pressure issues with their Twingo?

Greetings. I am sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties with your Renault Twingo. I also own a Twingo, and I encountered a similar issue some time ago. I observed the oil pressure warning lamp illuminating intermittently, accompanied by unusual engine sounds. May I inquire whether you have observed any fluctuations in the oil pressure gauge, if your model is equipped with one? Did you check the oil level recently?

Fluctuations in the oil pressure gauge? I wish I had one! It's just a warning light in my Twingo. And yeah, I checked the oil level – it's fine. So, when you had this issue, was it constant, or just sometimes? Did it sound like the engine was about to explode, or more like a gentle grumble?

Indeed, the warning lamp illumination was intermittent at first, subsequently becoming more persistent. Given the presence of unusual engine sounds, and the fact that the oil level is adequate, it would be prudent to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified technician. In my particular case, the root cause was, regrettably, oil pump failure. I would advise against operating the vehicle until a thorough diagnosis can be performed to prevent further damage.

Right, oil pump failure... that's what I was dreading. Thanks for the heads-up! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the oil pump was indeed kaput. Total repair cost 755€. New pump installed, and she's purring like a kitten again. Thanks again for the help!
