Twingo oil temperature warning light
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Twingo diesel was experiencing issues with the oil temperature warning light and occasional flickering of the oil pressure warning lamp. The problem was traced to a potential issue with the engine oil temperature sensor, possibly due to a faulty connection, frayed cable, or loose plug. The suggested solution was to check the wiring and connector for any bad connections. Upon inspection at a garage, a corroded pin in the sensor plug was found and replaced, resolving the issue.

Cheers for the quick reply! When you say 'wiggle', do you mean literally just jiggle the connector a bit to see if the light goes out, or is there a more scientific way to test the connection? I've got a multimeter, but I'm not exactly an electrician...

Yeah, just a gentle wiggle to see if the light flickers or goes off. If wiggling does something, it’s almost certainly the connector or the wiring right there. Given the oil pressure light too, it's worth getting it properly diagnosed. Could be a faulty sensor causing knock-on effects. Best to take it to a workshop, I'd say.

For anyone interested: you were spot on about the connector! Took it to a local garage, and they found a corroded pin in the sensor plug. Cleaned it up, replaced the connector, and the warning light's gone! Cost me 95€, but peace of mind is priceless. Thanks for the help!

Sounds familiar! Had a similar thing happen on my old Peugeot 207 a few years back. Oil temperature gauge going nuts. Check the wiring and the plug that connects to the sensor itself first. Could just be a bad connection. Give it a wiggle and see if anything changes.
