Twingo throttle valve issue

Alright, need some help! My 2013 Renault Twingo, diesel engine, is giving me headaches. 104567 km on the clock. I think the throttle valve is defective, and I'm seeing higher fuel consumption than usual. Plus, it's starting poorly, like it's really struggling. Could a defective accelerator pedal module be the culprit? Anyone else had similar gremlins? What would you do?

Sounds frustrating! I had similar symptoms with my old Saab, a real pain. Higher fuel consumption and rough starts. Could very well be the throttle valve. Have you tried cleaning the throttle body? Might be worth a shot before jumping to replacing the whole accelerator pedal module. How does the engine idle? Is it rough or unstable?

Cleaning, huh? Good idea! But where exactly is the throttle body on a Twingo? And could a dirty throttle really mess with fuel efficiency that much? If it is the accelerator pedal module, is that a DIY job, or am I looking at a workshop visit?

Yeah, a dirty throttle can definitely impact fuel efficiency. As for location, a quick search online should show you some diagrams. It is pretty accessible. But judging by the symptoms and your mileage, it might be a deeper issue. If cleaning doesn't fix it, I'd advise getting it checked out professionally. Could save you money in the long run. It is probably best to go to the workshop.

Thanks! Much appreciated. Took your advice and went to the workshop. Turns out it was the throttle valve, just like I thought! New one fitted, cost me 205€ all in. Running smooth as butter now. Cheers for pointing me in the right direction!
