Twizy ABS Fault

My 2019 Renault Twizy (electric) is acting up. The ABS light is always on, making the ABS useless. I scanned it, and it shows a fault with the lateral acceleration sensor. Mileage is at 103607 km. Has anyone seen this before? I think the control unit is failing!

A lateral acceleration sensor fault on a Twizy is tricky. Have you checked the basics first? Is your steering angle sensor working correctly? A bad reading there can sometimes throw off the whole electronic stability/traction control system and cause cascading errors. Also, any recent wheel alignment work done? A wonky alignment could conceivably mess with the sensor readings, though it's a long shot.

Steering angle, huh? Interesting. I haven't specifically checked that. Is there an easy way to test that without specialized tools? As for wheel alignment, nothing recently, but it's always a possibility. What makes you think that could be connected? Where does the ABS get its alignment data from?

The ABS and ESC systems rely on many sensor inputs to work together. A faulty steering angle sensor can definitely confuse the system, making it think the car is turning more or less sharply than it actually is. Regarding the wheel alignment, it’s just a thought, since extreme misalignment might influence the lateral acceleration sensor readings indirectly. Honestly, this sounds like a complicated issue. With those symptoms, I’d strongly recommend booking it in with a workshop specializing in Renault electrics. I have seen these control units failing before, costing around 1000€ to repair.

Thanks for the insight; I suspected as much. The info on the steering angle sensor is helpful, but it all points to a deeper dive. I'm off to the shop. The diagnostic scan indicates a defective control unit. I have requested a quote from the garage.
