Ulysee preheating lamp stays on
Summary of the thread
The issue with the 2002 Fiat Ulysee is that the preheating lamp remains on, which could indicate a defective glow plug. A diagnostic tool has shown an error, suggesting a malfunction in the glow plug system. It is recommended to conduct a diagnostic check with an OBD II scanner to identify specific error codes and confirm the integrity of the glow plug circuit. Consulting a qualified workshop for accurate diagnosis and replacement is advised to avoid complications.

Yes, I did get an error code, but I can't remember it. Is there a way to check the glow plugs individually without specialized tools?

While methods for individual glow plug testing exist without sophisticated equipment, accuracy is paramount. Given your description and the potential for complications within the engine management system, I strongly suggest consulting a qualified workshop. The replacement of glow plugs, while seemingly straightforward, can be problematic if not performed correctly. I ultimately chose this route. In my case the final bill came to 440€.

That's helpful advice. I'll take it to a workshop to get it checked out properly. I appreciate you sharing your experience and the potential cost to expect. Hopefully it will solve the problem.

I have a Ulysee, and I experienced similar symptoms some time ago. The persistent preheating lamp and stored error strongly suggest a glow plug malfunction. It's crucial to ascertain which glow plug(s) are defective. Before replacing any components, I would recommend a diagnostic check with an OBD II scanner to identify the specific error code(s) and confirm the glow plug circuit integrity. Did you happen to register the error code?
