Uneven driving behavior and possibly faulty door contact signal in the 2017 Polo
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Polo is experiencing uneven driving behavior, suspected to be linked to a faulty door contact signal. A similar issue in a Golf was resolved by addressing shock absorber problems, suggesting the initial suspicion might be a misjudgment. It is recommended to revisit the mechanic to check the shock absorbers and potentially fix the door contact signal, as previous similar repairs were not costly and resolved the issue.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Interesting that you mention the shock absorbers. I wouldn't have thought about that. Do you happen to remember how much the repair cost? And did you have another problem afterwards? Maybe I really should go back to the mechanic and have it checked.

Hey, don't worry, I think you can get your Polo running again. After I went to the mechanic, the faulty signal from the door contact was fixed. I didn't have any more problems after that. When it comes to the cost... In my case, it was around €55 because the fuse was faulty. Fortunately, it wasn't too expensive. I think it's definitely worth having it checked before it causes even bigger problems.

Hey, that sounds like a pretty straightforward solution. Thanks for the tip. That takes me a bit further. I'll take my Polo back to the garage and ask them to check the shock absorbers. 52 really isn't a bad price considering what could have happened. Thanks for the reassurance, my nerves were already a bit frayed. I will keep you posted.

Hey, I recently had a similar problem with my Golf (2014 model, diesel). In my case, it was a problem with the shock absorbers that led to the bumpy ride. It wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't too bad either as it was solved. So the fault with the door contact signal could be a misjudgment, but I'm not a mechanic. Have you been to the garage? Maybe the guys should take another look at it.
