Uneven ride height and bouncing behavior in a 2007 VW Touareg: Possible compressor defect

Hey folks! My 2007 VW Touareg (gasoline engine and a whopping 218920 km on the clock) is doing some strange things. It bounces more than it should and has an uneven ride height. I think it could be a fault with the air suspension compressor. Have any of you had similar problems and what did you experience with your mechanic? I'm particularly nervous because my last visit to my mechanic wasn't that great. Appreciate any info!

Summary of the thread

A 2007 VW Touareg is experiencing bouncing and uneven ride height, suspected to be due to a faulty air suspension compressor. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the compressor, which improved the vehicle's performance. It is advised to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic to prevent further complications.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had something similar with my 2010 VW Tiguan. The compressor was defective. It wasn't a small thing, by the way. My car was also really bitching. It bounced when stationary and the ride height was uneven. It was pretty serious, the mechanic had to replace the compressor completely. So it really could be a problem with the air suspension. Have someone look over it before it gets worse.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Good to know I'm not the only one with this problem. Do you happen to remember how much you had to pay to replace the compressor? And has anything similar happened again since then? I really don't want this to become a regular issue.

Sure, I can remember that. I had to fork out €590 to replace the compressor, so it was no small matter. However, nothing has gone wrong with the air suspension since I had it done. My Touareg is running like a champ again. So I'd say it was worth every penny. Don't worry, I don't think it will happen again. Better go to your mechanic and have it checked. Better safe than sorry!

Hey, that's quite a tidy sum. But I think if it really helps, it's worth the investment. I like my Touareg and want it to last a while longer. I'll take it to the mechanic next week and get it checked out. Thanks again for your time and advice. Didn't think I'd find solutions to my problem here so quickly. Bye and drive safely!
