Uneven ride height and bouncing behavior in the 2009 Mercedes G Class - experience and advice wanted

Hey guys, I need your advice. I drive a 2009 Mercedes G Class with 171,224 km mileage and a gasoline engine. My car has recently started to have problems: an uneven ride height and extreme bouncing. I suspect that the air suspension bellows valve is damaged. The last time at the garage was not a pleasant experience, so I wanted to hear your opinions first. Have any of you had similar problems and how did you get on with the garage? Many thanks in advance!

Hey, yes, I know the problem. The same thing has just happened to my 2006 Mercedes GL Class with a diesel engine and similar mileage. At my garage, they discovered that the air bellows of the suspension was defective. It was a pretty serious matter, because not only were the potholes a pain, but driving safety was also impaired. The guys in the workshop had to completely replace the air bellows. It was quite a job, but afterwards it ran smoothly again. Hope that helps you. Keep gong!

Hey, thanks for your feedback! Now I'm really relieved to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Can I ask how much you ended up paying for the repair? And did you have any further problems with the air suspension afterwards, or did everything run like clockwork? Looking forward to your answer!

Hey, you're welcome, we're all here to help each other. I had to pay €590 to repair the air bellows. It wasn't a lot of money, but it was worth it. The car has been running like clockwork ever since, no more problems with the chassis. After the air suspension bellows valve was repaired, the car has returned to its old form. So I can say that I have been satisfied since my visit to the workshop. I hope it goes the same way for you. Keep us up to date!

Hey, incredible, thank you very much! 590 sounds like a lot at first, but if everything works again, it's definitely worth considering. Your experience with the garage has given me courage and I think I'll just go for it now. I'll definitely keep you posted and knock again if I have any further questions! Thanks again for your help!
