UrbanCruiser starting issue

Hey, got a weird one with my 2009 Toyota UrbanCruiser, gasoline engine. It's got about 50k clicks on the clock (49835 km to be exact). Sometimes it just won't start! Other times it cuts out while I'm driving. And when it DOES run, it's often really rough. I've checked the battery connections, they look fine. Could it be the ignition switch? Anyone else had similar gremlins?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my UrbanCruiser, though not sure about the year. Have you checked the fuses? A defective fuse can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems. Is the starter motor turning at all when it won't start, or is it just completely dead?

Good shout on the fuses! I'll check those ASAP. Where exactly should I be looking for the fuse related to the ignition? And no, the starter motor doesn't even try to turn over when it fails. Totally dead.

Yeah, mine was completely dead too, no cranking at all. For the fuse, check the main fuse box, usually located under the hood or sometimes in the driver's footwell. The diagram should be on the fuse box cover. Honestly, if fuses are fine, sounds like you might have a dodgy ignition switch. Might be worth getting a shop to take a look before you start throwing parts at it.

Thanks for the advice! You were spot on! Turns out it WAS a fuse! Replaced it and she's running like a champ again. Cost me 52€ for the fuse and diagnostic. Cheers!
