UrbanCruiser Tailgate Hall Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Toyota UrbanCruiser is experiencing a tailgate hall sensor fault, causing the tailgate not to fully open. The issue may be due to a faulty connection, such as loose or corroded wiring to the sensor. Checking and securing the sensor wiring or consulting a workshop for potential corrosion or faulty cables are suggested solutions.

You mean the wiring to the sensor itself? Are you thinking the hall sensor fault is a consequence, not the root cause? What sensor wiring should I check?

Exactly! I'd check the plug connection first - give it a wiggle and see if anything changes. Honestly, though, in the end I just took mine to a workshop. They said the pins had corroded. Saved me a lot of grief for a small outlay.

Corroded pins... that makes sense, thanks! I went to the workshop; turned out to be a faulty cable. Labour included, the repair ran to 95€. Just wanted to thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

I had something similar with my Toyota UrbanCruiser, though the sensor issue was intermittent. Have you checked the sensor wiring? Sometimes a loose plug can cause headaches. Was it throwing any other codes?
