Thanks for the tip! Yeah, the check engine light was definitely on before it completely died. What does the ECU have to do with the battery? Should I try to read the error codes?

The Engine Control Unit (ECU), essentially the vehicle's computer, requires stable power for proper functioning. Voltage drops due to poor battery connections can cause ECU malfunction and trigger the check engine light. Diagnostic trouble codes may provide further insight, however, the existing symptoms warrant immediate evaluation by a qualified technician.

You were spot on! I cleaned and tightened the battery connections, but no luck. Ended up taking it to a workshop. Turns out, even though I thought it was just the battery connection, the faulty connection fried something in the ECU and they had to replace some stuff. Cost me 155€ to get it fixed. Thanks for the help!

A similar issue presented with a 2018 Opel Vivaro. Verify that the battery terminals are securely fastened and free from corrosion, as compromised connections are known to disrupt ECU operation and cause starting failures. Was the check engine light illuminated before the vehicle became inoperable?
