Urvan preheating lamp and smoking issue

My 2011 Nissan Urvan with a diesel engine is showing some odd behavior. The preheating lamp won't switch off, the check engine light is on, and it's smoking when I accelerate. It has 118410 km on the clock. I suspect the glow control unit, possibly a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else encountered this?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Urvan. The preheating lamp was driving me crazy. It was like a disco in my dashboard! Check engine light too. Did you run a diagnostic test? Could be the glow plugs themselves, or as you suspect, something in the control unit's wiring.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection on the component. Did yours also smoke when accelerating? I'm trying to narrow it down before I start replacing parts.

Yes, the smoke was there too, especially when the engine was cold. Honestly, I spent ages fiddling with it and got nowhere. In the end, I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly. Best 95€ I ever spent.

Understood. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably end up doing the same thing then. It's good to know someone else had the same issue and a mechanic was able to fix it.
