UX Tailgate Hall Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
The issue with the 2021 Lexus UX involves the tailgate not opening completely and displaying a 'tailgate hall sensor fault.' The problem is likely due to a faulty wiring harness or connector leading to the hall sensor, rather than the sensor itself. It is recommended to inspect the harness for damage or corrosion and ensure the connector is properly seated. For a precise diagnosis and repair, visiting a workshop is advised.

So, you think it's more likely a connection issue than the sensor itself? Where exactly is the hall sensor located? Is it easy to get to, or am I going to need to dismantle half the trunk to find it?

Precisely! Think of it like a garden hose with a kink – the electricity can't flow properly even if the tap is working fine. While I can't tell you exactly where it is without seeing your car, it is typically integrated into the tailgate latch mechanism or one of the struts. Given the error code, and your symptoms, I would strongly recommend having a workshop take a look. You could try tracing the wires yourself, but you risk damaging something else. They can properly diagnose it and replace the faulty cable.

Okay, that makes sense. I appreciate the help! I'll book it in with a local shop. They quoted me around 95€ for the repair, and they confirmed the cable or plug connection of the component defective. Hopefully, that'll sort it out.

I had a similar problem with my UX! Sounds like the car is 'seeing' the tailgate as partially closed even when it's not. It could very well be the hall sensor, or more likely the wiring harness or connector leading to it. These sensors are usually pretty reliable. Check the harness for any chafing or damage, and make sure the connector is properly seated and free from corrosion.
