V Klasse engine stalling and fuel composition error
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Mercedes V Klasse gasoline engine was experiencing stalling at idle and a check engine light, with diagnostics indicating an incorrect fuel composition error. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug in the fuel system. Upon further investigation, a corroded connection in the fuel composition sensor was identified as the issue. Cleaning and reinforcing the connection resolved the problem, clearing the error code and restoring normal engine operation.

I appreciate the suggestion about misfuelling, but I keep meticulous records. Could you elaborate on your situation? What error codes were present, and what actions were taken? Was there any impact on your fuel economy? Any details would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, so I didn't fill up with wrong fuel, thankfully. But the symptoms were similar. The mechanic said something about a sensor connection being loose or corroded. Like a loose wire causing all sorts of chaos. Think of it like a bad phone connection, you hear static and garbled words. Best bet is to get it checked at a workshop, they'll find the culprit for sure.

Based on your experience, I pursued this with a technician. A faulty connection was identified as the cause. The fuel composition sensor connection was corroded, causing erroneous readings. The connector was cleaned, wiring inspected, and the connection reinforced. The error code is cleared, and the engine is operating normally. The total cost was 95€, as estimated. Thank you again.

Whoa, sounds rough! I had something kinda similar happen in my V Klasse. Check engine light, the whole shebang. Did you happen to fill up recently? Could be wrong fuel. Just a thought, since you mentioned fuel composition.
