V Klasse rear window heating issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Mercedes V Klasse experienced a rear window heating issue, with the heating completely non-functional and related error codes stored. The problem extended to the windshield heating, suggesting a broader electrical issue. A heavily discharged or defective battery was identified as the likely cause. After replacing the battery and resetting the system, the heating functions were restored, resolving the issue.

Weak auto defrost function, that's a good question! I didn't pay close attention to that. Where exactly should I be looking for the heating coil? I'm not super familiar with the electrical bits.

Okay, so if the auto defrost is also underperforming, it definitely points to a central issue. Honestly, without the right tools, finding the heating coil and testing it can be tricky. Given that you've already got error codes and the window heater isn't working, I would suggest a workshop visit.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out the battery was causing all sorts of electrical weirdness, including the window heater malfunction. New battery and a reset later, everything's working perfectly again. Cost me 290€, but at least it's fixed!

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my V Klasse, though I can't remember the exact error codes. Does your car defrost function seem weak too? Have you checked the heating coil for any obvious damage or loose connections?
