V40 ABS Lateral Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Volvo V40 owner experienced an issue with the ABS light intermittently activating, indicating a lateral acceleration sensor fault. This problem was identified as likely stemming from a defective sensor within the ABS control unit. The suggested solution was to have the control unit inspected and potentially replaced by a professional, which ultimately resolved the issue.

It's intermittent. Comes and goes as it pleases. Where you at lateral sensor when you had the problem or could it be something else?

Yeah, mine was intermittent too at first, then it became more frequent. Pretty sure it's the sensor. Unfortunately, those things are usually part of the ABS control unit itself, so it's not a simple swap. You probably need to take it to a workshop to confirm but I'd bet it's a defective control unit.

Thanks for the info! I took it to a shop and yep, lateral sensor in the control unit, just like you said. Bill came to around 1000€ to get it sorted but at least it's fixed now!

Hey! I had something similar happen in my V40 a while back. Sounds like the lateral sensor is borked! Is it constantly on, or just intermittent?
